Dog Days of Summer

it's been pretty much work, work and work. With of course some summer enjoyment but for some reason I just haven't had much blogging time, I plan on cutting back the time spent at the office soon so hopefully that will help.

Virtual Vacation Swap questionaire

1. If you could visit any state in the US, which would it be and why?
Hawaii! I LOVE LOVE tropical hot sunny beach weather!
2. If you could visit any country in the world, other than your own, which would it be and why?
Japan, for the beauty and the culture. They have such strong faith in their customs, it's very interesting.
3. Have you ever driven across several states/providence/countries?
Yup! tons of times! But right after I graduated high school I drove my brother's new car from Las Vegas to VA in 3 Days by myself! It was actually a lot of fun! I would love to do it again but with a friend this time...
4. Have you ever visited someplace you consider exotic? Where was it?
well, probably when I drove with family from La Paz, Bolivia to a little village all the way at the top of the mountains near lake Titicaca(sp?) we ate local fish and stayed in a little local "motel", it was very different than what I'm used to.
5. What was your favorite "travel" vacation? Why?
hmm, I like going to see my family in Bolivia, because it's such a different lifestyle there...I just love it all, the farm, the culture, and the chance to relax and see family!
6. Have you ever played tourist in your own home city/state (if international, country)? Explain.
yup! I live in NYC, so every time someone comes to visit we do the tourist thing...empire state building, chinatown, times square, bronx zoo,.....
7. Are you a museum visitor, beach comer or an amusement seeker?
I love museums! but I also LOVE the beach but I live on the beach! not much of a amusement seeker I hate rollercoasters!
8. What's your favorite type of yarn?
Alpaca! I love all natural fibers though wool, alpaca, and soft cottons...
9. What's your least favorite type of yarn?
novelty and acrylic, I also hate rough scratchy yarns and hairy yarns
10. What items do you like to knit/crochet?
everything, baby clothes mostly, tops for me,socks!...
11. What do you pack, knit/crochet wise when you go on vacation?
socks mostly because they are small and easy to take along
12. What other crafts do you do/would like to do other than Knit/Crochet?
I like to make stitch markers, I LOVE to dye yarn, journaling.
13. Are you allergic to anything? (Yarn wise or treat wise)
nope;~)
14. What is your favorite color? Least Favorite?
my favorite in yarn is all colors really, my absolute fave colorway is the socks that rock red rock canyon, love those colors! least would have to be neons but bright colors I like just not fluorescent...
15. Sweet or Savory (Treat not personality)?
Sweet! yummm chocolate!
16. Anything else we are forgetting to ask that you think your partner desperately needs to know? might add to this later...

Spreading the "G" word!

chilling out during the demo. After crawling around the store and trying to escape up the escalator, he fell asleep in his stroller.
Xzavier in his hawaiian g!
I volunteered to help spread the word about gdiapers last week. Along with Xzavier as the little g model, I was joined by another amazing mom and her little one! It was at whole foods in Union Square. We had a lot of fun helping out!

In Knitting News: old F.O.s and a new WIP

on the left: a soaker made with the first yarn I ever dyed, on the right: mason-dixon baby bib o' love made with sugar and cream. I finished these months ago...
the button is so simple, but I love it! it fits the bib perfect.
current WIP: a sock, my pattern, with socks that rock fairgrounds colorway...
I really like the yarn, it's the first time I've used it before...I took a break on my other projects for now, and since Xzavier is now walking...I started these just for some mindless knitting while I keep my eye on him at all times...unfortunately I had to start over because they were to big! so I cast on with fewer stitches...

There was so much food! I swear we could have feed the whole neighborhood too
Taking pictures with the graduate...Michael and his friends partied all night...
We are now back home in NYC...trying to get back to normal...

My sick baby:~(

Xzavier has a cold! It's the first time he's really ever been sick. It sucks, and he's so uncomfortable. All he wants is me to hold him, and now I have a really bad backache. But after 2 days of runny nose, coughing, watery eyes...he's finally looking better. I just hope he gets better before his Uncle Mike's graduation on thursday!!
Oh and the picture of me was taken by my little brother Kevin, he wanted me to put it up here so everyone can see me "in my pajamas"
In Knitting news: I started and frogged the seize diamonbacks 4 times already. Mostly due to small mistakes I was making(and of course the baby tugging at my leg 24/7) I think they'll take a break for a minute. Other than that, I really haven't had much knitting time. maybe once I get back home things will go back to normal...

Our homemade rollercoaster

what's up with this kid?

He loves to hold things in his mouth! Anything that he can get a grip on...

he's got his daddy's gap;~)

oh and I think I forgot to mention...
he has 8 teeth,4 on the bottom,4 on top!! He's actually had all 8 for a couple months now!

and He's a Biter! he already has bitten like 4 people, and hard too! I think I know where he gets it from, I used to bite a lot...

Mother's Day photo shoot

Due to the fact it's mother's day and that all 4 of us (my bros and sis) are together with my mom, which hardly ever happens...we went to take some much needed family portraits. I will try to scan and post some soon!

Since I'm spending my first mama's day with the family, we went to eat at this very wonderfully delicious bolivian restaurant in Ballston, VA. We ate alot and enjoyed some time together with family friends also.

This was Xzavier and Kevin playing around while we waited for them to take our pictures.

This is my brother, who was taking some individual photos to celebrate the fact that he is graduating from college this week(he just turned 20!) and will be heading for law school next year.... I snapped this picture of him goofing around while the photographer tended to something else:~)

I wish all the mama's out there, a happy mother's day!!!

I stumbled upon this...

I was doing some blog reading, and somehow stumbled across this very heart-touching photo.
and then...

THEN HERE

How does that make you feel????
Does it make you appreciate the first picture more???

At first I was happy, I was happy for the fact that her family got to enjoy every minute with her, I don't know them, but this is obvious. She is very pretty. But it is sad to think about her babies.
And this is why I love photography, I like to think it's possible to actually freeze a moment in time.
I appreciate and love everyone around me, even if I don't say it. I do.

A Trip to the Frog Pond

I started my seize diamondbacks, but just as I got to about 5 rounds I realized I had messed up the k1p1 ribbing! ugh! I was so preoccupied with the laundry and everything else going on, I guess I just wasn't paying attention! Well, it's been frogged and recast already...

I was all set up with my pattern in front of me...I should practice the cable design before I actually do them on the socks, I hear it's a little difficult at first. hmm.

hopefully more progress will be posted soon!

A Day in the Country!

With such nice weather, we headed to enjoy the historic town of Clifton, Va. After going to noodles and noggins to buy my new ERGO baby carrier, we had some homemade ice cream at Peterson's. Unfortunately, no trains went by while we were there. But it was a lot of fun!

Xzavier loves riding in the ERGO

After a day in the town, a trip to the mall, and a walk around the neighborhood, we were beat!

My mom and my sister on our walk. (she kept making faces, so I told her it was going online)

(notice the iknit t-shirt, also from Scout's Swag)
This carrier is so unbelievably comfortable!
